The programme of the Fair
The organisers have taken great care to ensure the artistic program is entertaining as usual. When and where? The event starts on the threshold of King Arthur’s Court, and then, 23 days of fun later, it also finishes there.
Saturday 28th July, 12:00 P.M., King Arthur’s Court Opening of the Fair
St. Dominic’s Fair opens with a bugle call based on Gdansk’s musical collection, played by trumpeters and the town hall’s carillon.
Saturday 28th July, 8:00 P.M., Targ Weglowy Mery Spolsky live
Singer, rapper, guitarist, and fashion designer. Artistic soul and ultimate individualist. She is an author of lyrics, a songwriter, a producer, and an arranger of her own music.
Saturday 28th July, 9:30 P.M., Targ Weglowy Natalia Nykiel live, fire show after the gig
Exceptional, unconventional, and independent. She revolutionised the Polish electronic and pop scene. She has achieved many thousands of record sales, with over 145 million views of her music videos.
Sunday 29th July, 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M., Dlugi Targ – The 23rd Bread Festival
Gdansk’s Bread Festival is one of the first events of its kind in Poland, and the only one with its own bugle call to mark the opening of the event. It attracts eminent visitors to the fair, emphasising the prestige of the baking profession and its responsible social role as a food producer.
Sunday 29th July, 9:00 P.M., Targ Weglowy Pola Rise live
One of the most intriguing vocalists on the Polish music scene. She loves to travel and go against the grain. While on the road, she writes music, which is how one of the most awaited albums of the year, Anywhere But Here, came into existence, recorded in New York, London, Oslo, Berlin, Seoul, and other places.
Friday 3rd August, 9:00 P.M., Targ Weglowy The Dumplings live
They come from Zabrze. Justyna Swies is a fan of classical sounds and peace of mind. Kuba Karas loves the deep tone of the bass guitar and experimenting with samples. Together they form a melodic, electropop duet. And they are brilliant at it.
Saturday 4th August, 9:00 P.M., Targ Weglowy Bovska live
Bovska is independent. She breaks stereotypes, playing with words and convention. Although she first debuted less than 2 years ago, today she’s a trendsetter. Her first record sold out within two days of its release, while her songs have been breaking records on the internet.
Friday 10th August, 8:30 P.M., Targ Weglowy Barbara Wronska live
A singer and songwriter, an author of lyrics, and a member of the duet Ballady
i Romanse and the band Pustki.
Saturday 11th August, 8:30 P.M., Targ Weglowy Jazz Band Mlynarski-Masecki live
Marcin Masecki, one of Poland's greatest improvising pianists, along with Jan Emil Mlynarski on lead vocals and the banjo, together guarantee the finest art experience.
Sunday 12th August, 8:30 P.M., Targ Weglowy Ania Rusowicz and the niXes Project
niXes is an innovative music project from that singer and songwriter Ania Rusowicz, an artist who can sometimes be most surprising. First she won the hearts of audiences and critics with the record Moj Big-Bit, and then, inspired by psychedelic rock, she released a brilliant album, Genesis, which has proved to be just as successful.
Sunday 19th August, 4:00 P.M., on the threshold of King Arthur’s Court, THE CLOSING CEREMONY
The Master of Ceremony describes to the audience the things seen and heard during the 23 days of the Fair. Then comes the big moment, the awarding of the St. Dominic’s Fair Grand Prix, the trumpets playing the bugle call of the Fair, and the final returning to the city's officials of the key to the city gates.
Sunday 19th August, 8:30 P.M., Targ Weglowy MESAJAH live and laser show (after the gig)
Mesajah, known for such hits as Kazdego dnia, Szukajac szczescia, and Lepsza polowa, is the creator of a brand new style on the Polish music scene. The uncanny energy typical for his shows allows his audiences to enjoy every last moment of them. Mesajah simply means the joy of life!
As you can see, there is something here for everyone, at St. Dominic’s Fair. The diversity of the event means it remains well-known and appreciated. Come and participate!
