The tourist season never ends in Gdansk!
Holidays came to an end… Schools will soon be full. Days will become colder and leaves will slowly disappear from the trees. However, there’s one thing that doesn’t change in Gdansk — here, season lasts the whole year.
Even if the weather’s bad, you will never get bored in Gdansk. Wonderful museums and cultural institutions, the historic monuments and playgrounds for children. All of that can be found in our city, every season of the year. Undoubtedly, the biggest hit of the year is The Museum of the Second World War, opened in Spring, which additionally enriched the already wide educational offer of Gdansk. All you have to do is to buy the Tourist Card (in our information centres or on-line shop) and then you can start your trip to discover the best museums and the most interesting places in our city. Thanks to the card, you’ll be able to freely move around the city by means of public transport and also you’ll receive discounts or free admission to many places. Moreover, after the whole day of sightseeing, you can receive a discount at one of our partner restaurants!
When weather’s good, on the other hand, and you’re interested in the routes that allow you to have fun and gain knowledge or prizes, we recommend you 2 special routes. The first one is for the younger explorers and the second one is for the older ones.
What we have in mind is the route of the lion Hewelion. The lion can be found in 8 locations: at the airport, on Góra Gradowa (Hewelianum Centre), on Długi Targ Street, on Ołowianka Island, at the Great Mill, at Brzeźno Pier, at Energa Gdańsk Stadium and Oliwa zoo. With the help of ileo application, the lion cubs will tell you the story of a given place – just bring your smartphone with an installed application closer to the lion’s figurine and that’s it.
The second route is called Craft Beer Trail. Now you know why we called it the route for “the bit older ones”. 10 places are participating in a game. In every location, after drinking the golden beverage, you’ll get a stamp in a special notebook. For collecting the required amount of stamps, you’ll receive the attractive prizes e.g. a beer mug! For more information about the trail read HERE.
And if weather doesn’t allow you to leave the house, you can start planning your time for the following days (with better weather) or experimenting in the kitchen. On our website visitgdansk.com, as always you can find inspiration when it comes to choosing the routes for visiting Gdansk and the region. Also, you might check the recipes for the delicious dishes, not only the regional ones. We also inform you, on a current basis, about the most important events in the city (not only the ones for tourists).
In addition, Gdansk Tourism Organisation runs 3 tourist information centres. Although, the opening hours of the centres at the main railway station and on Długi Targ Street will be shortened, our employees are ready to help you every day. What’s more, in our centres you can buy great gadgets connected with Gdansk such as t-shirts, magnets, bags, mugs and much more.
So don’t be sad because summer will soon be over. It’ll be back in less than 10 months, but even without it, you won’t be bored in Gdansk!
