Tram Tour for the long May Day weekend
During the upcoming long May Day weekend you will have the opportunity to take a Tram Tour for the first time this year. The unique tours around Gdansk are set to begin on Sunday, 30 April.
Enjoy the historical trams owned by the local Gdanskie Autobusy i Tramwaje (GAiT) transport company trundling through the streets of Gdansk, with PTTK guides on board, stopping at the European Solidarity Centre, the Energa Gdansk Stadium, the park and beach in Brzezno, the Baltic Opera House, the Great Avenue and many more locations. Between 30 April and 3 May the two historical GAiT trams, available to locals and visitors alike, will shuttle passengers twice a day between the Fore Gate and the Lighthouse in the New Port. PTTK guides will provide information about all of the attractions on the route. Passengers will also find out where most Gdansk residents were born, how many lime trees grow along the Great Avenue, how many polycarbonate amber-coloured slabs were used to build the Gdansk stadium, what was built in the Lake Zaspa area, and where the highest chimney in the city can be seen.
The departure times of both trams from the Fore Gate stop are 11:15 and 13:15, the special tickets required may be purchased from the tram driver just before departure. The ticket prices are: reduced ticket – 4.50 zloty, regular ticket – 6.00 zloty, family ticket – 15.00 zloty. Holders of the Tourist Card (issued by the Gdansk Tourism Organization) may purchase tickets at reduced prices.
One ticket is valid for the Fore Gate – Lighthouse – Fore Gate route.
The tours are organised jointly by Gdansk City, the PTTK branch in Gdansk, Gdansk Tourism Organization and the local Gdanskie Autobusy i Tramwaje (GAiT) transport company.
