Gdansk is becoming more and more popular with tourists!
Based on the research of the Gdańsk Tourist Organization and the Pomeranian Institute of Science named after Professor Brunon Synak, in 2017 itself 2,660,306 visitors came to Gdańsk – such number of people could create a living chain of nearly 800 km!
It was also a significant year due to the number of guests from abroad. Compared to 2016, their number increased by over 200 thousand.
From abroad, the ones who visited us most often were the Germans (34.2%), guests from Scandinavia (15.5%) and from the UK (13.1%). As far as Poland is concerned, the largest number of tourists and visitors were from the Pomeranian, Masovian and Lesser Poland Voivodeships.
- ''The number of tourists and visitors shows that Gdańsk has a very well-developed cultural, entertainment, or even culinary offer. This makes our guests more and more willing to visit us all year round, regardless of the weather or seaso,'' says the President of the Board of the Gdańsk Tourist Organisation, Łukasz Wysocki.
Guests most often came to Gdańsk to rest (38.9%), visit their loved ones (19.7%) and on business (11.1%). They were most likely to walk around the city (58.7%), do some sightseeing (53%) and make the most of the gastronomic offer (35.2%). For the third year in a row, the atmosphere and climate of the city gained the greatest recognition amongst the visitors, which makes the residents of Gdańsk very much appreciated, because ultimately they are the ones who form the City.
