Biskupia Górka (7/11)

Biskupia Górka is the name of a hill (60.8 m above sea level), located on the edge of the Gdańsk Upland and towering over the city of Gdańsk on the western side. The place was frequented by artists (e.g. Antoni Möller, Nicolaus Johannes Piscator jun., Idzi Dickmann) to capture the picturesque panorama of the City and Żuławy Gdańskie spreading below.
Due to the location, in the 9th-12th centuries there was probably a watch tower there and in the 17th-20th centuries Biskupia Górka was an important element in the fortifications of Gdańsk. The name of Biskupia Górka derives from the owner of the site in the 13th-18th centuries - the bishop of Włocławek.
