Following the Gdansk view points
Have you ever thought what Gdansk looks like from the height of over 100 metres? Or perhaps you like climbing and you want to see the city from somewhat different perspective? For active people, it will be an interesting idea to sightsee the city by climbing the highest peaks of which there are quite a few in Gdansk!
A former seat of the authorities of affluent powerful Gdansk, dating back to the end of the 13th century and reconstructed many times, that with its architecture and interior decoration in the style of Dutch mannerism represented the affluence and importance of the city in a dignified way. Over the entrance there is the coat of arms of Gdansk with the lions that contrary to the previous sculpting practice look towards the Golden Gate trying to see the Polish king.
From the cityhall tower the music of 37 bells of the Gdansk second carillon, a replica of the 17th century instrument, spreads to the city. Now the historic walls house the Historical Museum of the City of Gdansk. The cupola of the tower, constructed by master Dirk Daniels from Zeeland, is crowned with a gold plated statue of king Sigismund II Augustus.
