Ghostface Killah (real name Dennis Coles) is one of the most prominent rappers in the history of hip-hop, and is considered to be one of the best narrators of his generation. In the 1990s, he formed the Wu-Tang Clan together with RZA and several other rappers, and the group released its (still widely acclaimed) debut album, “36 Chambers”, in 1993. The release brought Ghostface popularity across the globe.

He is known for his dynamic flow, emotional lyrics, dense and colourful narrative style, extensive use of slang and the stream of consciousness technique. In 2006, MTV named him one of the Best MCs of all time. The following year, About.com also listed him as one of the Best MCs of our time (1987-2007), calling him “one of the best lyricists of our era”.

Coles, as do the majority of the Wu-Tang Clan, goes by several pseudonyms taken from films, mythology, etc. The nickname Ghostface Killah comes from the 1979 movie “Mystery of Chessboxing”.

He launched his solo career nearly 25 years ago, releasing such top-tier albums as “Ironman”
(a debut album placed 2nd in the Billboard 200 ranking and 1st in the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums ranking), “Supreme Clientele” and “FishScale”. Over the years he has worked with labels such as Def Jam, Razor Sharp and Epic Records. So far he has released ten solo albums and has worked on several other projects with collaborating artists.

At the Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre, expect to hear tracks from his latest album, “The Lost Tapes” (released on 5 October 2018 on X-Ray Records), which also features artists like Big Daddy Kane, Snoop Dogg, Tricky, E-40 and Ras Kass.
