What is a real must-have on a Christmas table? Gingerbread of course! A perfect adition to a tea or coffee in a family circle. We can prepare it ourselves at home according to a recipe by Michał Ostrowski- a chef of Papieroovka restaurant in Sadova Hotel.


  • 2 glasses of whole meal flour 
  • 2 glasses of sugar
  • 2 flat spoons of baking soda
  • 250 ml of water
  • 75 ml of dry wine
  • 4 spoons of cacao 
  • 200 g of butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 100 g of honey
  • 100 g of fried walnuts 
  • A pinch of salt
  • Gingerbread spice

Gingerbread spice, crushed in a mortar:

  • cloves 10 pcs
  • anise 1 star
  • allspice 2 pcs.
  • black pepper 5 pcs.
  • Cinnamon stick 1 pc.


Boil water adding cacao, sugar, butter, honey and prepared earlier, gingerbread spice. Pour wine. Cook till all melts and blends. Then put away for cooling. To a cold mass, add yokes, flour and soda. Whisk the left egg whites till solid foam is formed (add a pinch of salt). Blend everything with earlier prepared dough and nuts. Cook for 45 minutes in 180˚C.
