Let’s start with the Quests

The latest attraction from Gdansk Tourist Organization, ‘Following Plenty. A Mark Hidden in the Town Hall’, is not a typical guide. It’s a game allowing you to discover the secrets of Main Town Hall and have fun while doing it. The aim of the game is to find a certain artefact lost during the war, a precious, French clock. Going back to the 1970s, the player hears hints and speeches of virtual characters, solves puzzles and has to find the missing artefact. If this happens – you win!

It’s great fun, but also a challenge. You have to be clever and use logic while listening to the words of the virtual characters. What felt obvious at the beginning may become uncertain along the way, says Łukasz Wysocki, President of the Gdansk Tourism Organisation.

All you need to play is a smartfon with Androin or iOS and a ticket to the Town Hall. If you have Tourist Card (Sightseeing or Family&Fun package), you can enter the place free of charge.

It is worth adding that the game went through a testing phase before it launched, collecting a lot of positive reviews.

Details of the game are available HERE.

On the lion train

Hewelion’s trail is a great way to know the lion’s share of Gdansk most important places. Although the attraction is mainly for the youngest discoverers, it is also a great fun for adults.

What is the fun all about? Hewelion’s statues (a total of 8) are placed in the Oliwa ZOO, on the Energa Gdansk Stadium, near Brzeźno Pier, in Hewelianum Centre, on the Gdansk Airport (right next to the GTO Tourist Information Point), and also near Tourist Information Centre on Długi Targ. The Gdansk lion can be also seen near the Great Mill and Ołowianka Island. And you need to know that more of them are coming!

The lions are half a metre high and made out of bronze. You should download the mobile app iLeo which, after you put your phone close to the statue, makes the lion speak and tell your children all about the interesting Gdansk’s history.

Smart Tour – a reliable, non-wrinkable map

While sightseeing, you should also use Smart Tour. It works with  a Tourist Card. The card gets you free entrances and discounts at the GTO’s partners (e.g. institutions, museums, restaurants) and makes moving around the city much easier. It offers a map with all the main tourist attractions which won’t let you to miss any important place in Gdansk.

Footsteps – sightseeing trail made just for you

Footsteps is a mobile app and tourist platform based on 2  pillars. One of them is personalization. The user defines his own interests in the app by choosing one of ten possible identities (e.g. Tourist, Food Lover, Hipster, Historian, The Head of a Family or Art Lover).

Based on your choice, you will receive a customized tour that fits your preferences. Thanks to this, the user doesn’t spend one minute preparing for the tour and at the same time, by choosing the right path, draws more pleasure from the visit. After selecting a route, you will see an interactive map of the city with sightseeing location tags. Once you reach the attraction, you receive a notification and description of the place with additional photos, videos or links to websites of the attractions. You can stop the tour at any time and take a break; for example, if you want to eat, the app will show you the nearest restaurants.
