About the Fair
Circus performers, acrobats and acting troupes also came to the Fair from all over. Various wonders, exotic animals and even apparently... mermaids were shown. St. Fair Dominica was held annually for the next few centuries, becoming an important celebration for the city. This tradition was interrupted by World War II. It was revived in 1972. And it was then that the rooster became the symbol of the fair. Today, the ceremonial opening of the Fair is announced to the world by a specially written bugle call, to which a new note is added each year. And so the bugle call "ages" along with the Fair.
In such a historic setting, the Mayor of the City hands over the key to the gates of Gdańsk to merchants. The strength of the fair is its unique atmosphere and stalls full of various goods. Among them you can find old, rare and amazing items, as well as artistic handicrafts and delicacies from all over the world. It is not without significance that the fair takes place in the beautiful scenery of Gdańsk. St. Fair Dominika attracts tourists from Poland and abroad to Gdańsk. The main reason for their arrival is one: the desire to experience something extraordinary and unforgettable. And the Fair meets these expectations perfectly.
